Reverse engineering

Reverse engineering is a method to create a 3D virtual model of an existing physical part for use in 3D CAD, CAM or other software allowing the reconstruction of surfaces. The physical object can be measured using 3D scanning technologies like CMMs, laser scanners, structured light digitizers, or Industrial CT Scanning (computed tomography). The measured data alone, usually represented as a point cloud, is often processed and modeled into a more usable format such as a CAD model.

At PFT Innovaltech, we try as far as possible to integrate into our back-design work the manufacturing means used, the functionalities, the recommendations on manufacturing tolerances and the surface treatments. We can also find out the nature of a metal or of a plastic, as well as the possible treatments that these materials would have undergone, so as to provide the most comprehensive report possible, adapted to your needs.
